Porvoo is our shared home. We work for a city where families with children thrive, where young people can grow up safely, where the elderly receive the support they need, and where everyone feels at home regardless of their background.

We work to:

• combine our rich cultural heritage with modern development

• ensure that everyone has access to city information and services both digitally and traditionally

 

The Best Schools and Early Childhood Education

Porvoo's educational environments should be safe and inspiring. Every child has the right to high-quality education in healthy and functional facilities.

We work to:

• ensure sufficient and qualified staff in early childhood education

• provide safe and functional daycare and school environments

• secure adequate resources for special education

• support digital learning and innovation in schools

 

Wellbeing for Residents

An inclusive and vibrant community is built through preventive work and cooperation with the third sector.

We work to:

• provide free leisure activities for young people through schools, complemented by affordable hobby activities arranged by associations

• ensure accessible and diverse sports and recreational opportunities regardless of age or mobility

• make the Kokon project support movement for all, keeping residents' needs at the center

• create a well-being Porvoo in collaboration with the Eastern Uusimaa welfare area

• improve employment services, benefiting job seekers, immigrants, and businesses

• develop Porvoo as a cultural city for its residents while also attracting visitors and new inhabitants

 

A Vibrant City and Countryside

We want to preserve Porvoo's charm while developing and modernizing the city for the future. This means investing in the city center, rural areas, and the archipelago.

We work to:

• offer diverse housing options

• create an attractive, sustainable, and vibrant city center accessible to everyone regardless of mobility

• support entrepreneurship and innovation, including in rural areas

• update the village structure program and strive to accelerate village zoning processes

 

Climate and Environment

We want to see concrete efforts for the climate, biodiversity, and sustainability.

We work to:

• develop public transport

• promote investments and new jobs in cleantech, energy, and the green transition in Porvoo and Eastern Uusimaa

• preserve and protect Porvoo’s lakes, waterways, and coastline as well as our unique nature and archipelago

• ensure Porvoo continues to strive for climate neutrality by 2030

• increase focus on climate-smart and sustainable alternatives for new construction

• implement responsible procurement policies

 

A Sustainable Economy

The city’s future economy is challenging. SFP wants to see responsible economic policies that do not pass a large debt burden to future generations. A sustainable economy creates a stable foundation for long-term development and success.

We work to:

• ensure cost-effective administration

• strengthen cooperation within the city organization

• sell properties not needed for city services

• promote growth by actively attracting new residents and businesses

• maintain a reasonable and competitive municipal and property tax rate
