Blomqvist-Valtonen, Nylander and Andersson strongly oppose the HUS management's proposal

"Our regional hospitals should be developed, not dismantled"

The HUS central administration today presented a proposal for cuts in healthcare. The proposal would hit the regional hospitals in Uusimaa hard. Among other things, it is proposed to discontinue emergency services at Porvoo and Lohja hospitals. The hospital in Raseborg is also threatened by reorganization.

According to the chairwoman of the board of the Eastern Uusimaa welfare district Mikaela Nylander (SFP), the chairwoman of the SFP council group Otto Andersson and HUS board member Elin Blomqvist-Valtonen (SFP), the cuts cannot be approved under any circumstances. The SFPs in Eastern Uusimaa strongly oppose HUS's proposal, which would have devastating consequences for both Eastern and Western Uusimaa.

– Porvoo Hospital should continue to have an emergency department in the future and be a hospital that provides services to all age groups. A regional hospital cannot function without an emergency department. We cannot approve a downgrade to being only a day hospital, says Mikaela Nylander.

Andersson, Blomqvist-Valtonen and Nylander emphasize that Porvoo Hospital and the other regional hospitals have a crucial role for the new welfare areas that will begin operations at the turn of 2023.

– Porvoo Hospital should be developed, not dismantled. We, the people of East Nusa Tenggara, deserve a hospital that offers comprehensive healthcare in both national languages, Swedish and Finnish. That is why we in SFP say an absolute no to HUS's proposal, says Otto Andersson.

– The proposals that have now been put forward lack impact assessments and analyses of how they affect patient safety, among other things. I cannot under any circumstances approve cuts that worsen the level of service in our regions. The least we can demand is that each welfare area should have a hospital with emergency services, says Blomqvist-Valtonen

SFP is represented on the board of the new HUS association by Karin Cederlöf from the Western Uusimaa Welfare Area and by Elin Blomqvist-Valtonen from the Eastern Uusimaa Welfare Area. Chairwoman of the board Mikaela Nylander from the Eastern Uusimaa Welfare Area has the right to be present and speak.

Nylander is running in the 2023 parliamentary election

State Secretary Mikaela Nylander will be nominated as a candidate in the 2023 parliamentary election at the SFP in Uusimaa district meeting on Thursday evening.

– In the three years since the 2019 parliamentary election, I have carefully considered various options for future engagement. My decision to run for office in the 2023 parliamentary election has matured slowly but surely. For me, community engagement is still the most meaningful and natural option. Serving as a member of parliament is an extremely important and valuable position of trust, says Mikaela Nylander.

– The knowledge and insight into social issues that I have from different levels of decision-making are needed now that Finnish society is facing major changes and challenges. I want to contribute to future-oriented and human-friendly solutions to our problems. Above all, we need faith in the future and confidence that we will be able to cope, Nylander states.

– We should invest in well-being, mental illness costs us billions annually. Investments in education are the best way to create equal opportunities for everyone. Investments in research and innovation create jobs and enable changes that also take climate requirements into account. We will also need work-related immigration, our welfare depends on access to educated labor, says Nylander.

– The fight for the SFP mandates in Nyland will be tougher than ever this election. It is with great determination and fighting spirit that I am going to win the trust of the voters in Nyland, says Nylander.

Mikaela Nylander has been working as State Secretary to the Minister of Justice Anna-Maja Henriksson since August 2021. In the municipal elections in June 2021 and in the welfare district elections in January 2022, Nylander was the vote magnet of the elections. In the welfare district elections, Nylander also collected the second most votes in the entire country proportionally. Nylander was a member of parliament from 2003 to 2019 and served as chairman of the Swedish parliamentary group from 2011 to 2015.

Sigfrids is running for the 2023 parliamentary election

Swedish Youth Federation Chairwoman Frida Sigfrids is running in the 2023 parliamentary election in Uusimaa. Sigfrids is from Porvoo and was nominated as a candidate at the Swedish People's Party's Uusimaa district meeting on Thursday evening. Sigfrids has previously run in the 2019 parliamentary election. She is a member of the city council of Porvoo and a council member in the Eastern Uusimaa welfare area. Sigfrids wants to work above all to create faith in the future for the younger generation.

– We live in a time of transition where the prospects and faith in the future for the younger generation and future generations are in flux. Therefore, I want to contribute to a faith in the future where future generations will always be taken into account in all decisions made in the Riksdag, regardless of whether they are about the economy, climate or employment. We must be able to do better than we are doing now, says Sigfrids.

Sigfrids has served as the union chairman of Swedish Youth for three years and has also been a member of the party board and participated in the parliamentary group meetings for the past three years. Sigfrids says that Porvoo needs to take back its seat in parliament and that she is ready to take on responsibility.

– Porvoo is the largest city in Finland without its own member of parliament. This is completely unacceptable. Therefore, Porvoo needs a strong voice in parliament that can speak for the region, that takes future generations into account in decision-making and also has solid experience in politics. You will find that in me as a candidate in the parliamentary elections, concludes Sigfrids.

SFP wants to see a diverse and sustainable Kokon

In the future, Kokon will benefit both everyday exercisers and top athletes. The SFP council group wants to attract external actors, associations and private individuals to finance the project in order to achieve the best and most versatile concept possible.

For the SFP council group, it is important that the city carefully considers the financing of the Cocoon Project from the start. – We want the City of Porvoo to employ a person with overall responsibility for the financing and coordination of the Cocoon Project, says the chairwoman of the council group , Hilding Mattsson . Initially, the SFP is prepared for the city to spend 25-30 million on the Cocoon Project, as is currently budgeted over a five-year period.

Fundraising and external financing

In order to achieve the most functional whole possible that benefits the needs of all exercisers, we from the SFP council group believe that external financing is needed for the Cocoon Project. We propose that the city builds a model where public funds are increased as it succeeds in attracting external financiers. The more external financing, the better the level of service we can get. The fact is that the city cannot offer such high-quality sports halls with tax money alone as has been desired when the sports field and the residents of Borgå have been consulted on the issue.

What will Kokon have in the future?

Before the financing model is complete, the SFP council group does not want to determine everything that will be included in the Cocoon Project, but the group agrees on what will form the basis.

The outdoor areas are a resource and it is important that they provide opportunities for various low-threshold activities. In Kokon, an ice rink is needed to replace the current ones that have served their time both in terms of function and technology. A central arena, i.e. a ball/multi-purpose arena, forms the heart of the project. The council group also wants the current Kokonhallen to be transformed into a low-threshold exercise arena with many different types of activities for our residents, especially with young people in mind.

– In all operational planning, attention should be paid to sustainability aspects. From SFP, we also want to point out that there must not be unhealthy competition with private actors, concludes Mattsson.

In the welfare district election, the Swedish People's Party received a very high level of confidence in Eastern Uusimaa. The SFP became the largest party by far with 20 seats out of a total of 59. Mikaela Nylander received the most votes in the election with her personal vote count (1990). The high level of confidence the SFP received means that it is natural for the party to choose the position of chairman of the board, since the position is so central.

“The knowledge of the reform, the insight into the strengths and challenges of the entire region and the network I have throughout the region, combined with the enormous trust I received in the election, makes me interested in and willing to become Chairman of the Board,” says Mikaela Nylander. This means that I will be making some reprioritizations among my positions of trust.

– My strengths will come in handy in 2022 as we build up the welfare area. This is when the foundation is being laid and in this work I can contribute in a constructive and forward-looking way. As chairman of the board, you have a unique opportunity for insight and influence, which I see as very important now as we build up a completely new service organization in 2022, says Nylander.

14.12.2021

On Tuesday 14.12, the Swedish People's Party in Uusimaa submitted a strong candidate list in the Eastern Uusimaa welfare area. The SFP is fielding a full list of 73 candidates in the welfare area. 34 men and 39 women from six different municipalities.

– I am very pleased that we have submitted a diverse candidate list with strong names in Eastern Uusimaa. With this candidate list, we have all the conditions to achieve our goal of becoming the largest party in the Eastern Uusimaa welfare area, says SFP in Uusimaa district chairwoman Hanna Lönnfors.

“Care in Swedish and local services in our municipalities are absolutely central to SFP,” Lönnfors continues. We are also keen to secure the future of Porvoo Hospital – we want our joint East Nusa Tenggara hospital to offer versatile care in both Swedish and Finnish in the future as well,” says Lönnfors.

11.8.2021

The SFP in the Porvoo council group met this evening to constitute itself. Hilding Mattsson, a pedagogue and former director of education, was elected group chair, while new council member Emilia Mattsson was elected vice chair. Hanna Lönnfors was re-elected secretary.
